Vanessa J. Thompson is a frighteningly unique South Carolina native pursuing her BFA in Illustration, while minoring in Spanish. After studying numerous illustrative styles—such as those by Naoko Takeuchi, Frida Kahlo, Ukiyo-e School and Anna Anjos—she discovered a unique style all her own. This involves heavy experimentation with mark-making and patterns from nature, which she incorporates into her illustrations. Her objective is to improve her skills as an illustrator by working on various types of projects such illustrations for poster, magazine and brochure layout designs. Her goal is to illustrate multicultural children's books. She's even working on one now.
